Sorrowful Mysteries
The Players' production for Holy Week 2012 was a script by the talented writer Les Ellison, who has written other religious drama material that we have used.
The play is centred on five mysteries of the Rosary, and opens with Mary reflecting on the events surrounding her son's crucifixion. We see the effect that it had on some of the central characters - Judas Iscariot, in anguish over what he has done; Barabbas going home to his mother after his life was spared; Pontius Pilate, discussing the events with his wife, and being told by his secretary what has happened since; and Simon of Cyrene, returning to his family after being missing for two days.
The play was directed by Nickie Cox, who, like Les Ellison, is a member of Radius, the religious drama group.
